The summer of 2021 was a strange one in the UK with many restrictions in place right up until mid-July, many were left wondering how to spend the precious time out in the sun before the winter comes, recent data suggests that many looked towards paddle boarding as a means of keeping in shape and passing the time with friends as the UK emerged from lockdown. 

The UK has got paddle board fever

Data gathered from Google Trends shows that searches for paddle boarding were up over 300% when compared to 2019, this may have been driven by an increase in people looking for fun activities to enjoy a bit closer to home. 

The surge in demand could indicate a shift in the way people interact with the countryside, many welcomed the new found connection with the great outdoors over the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, and paddle boarding is a great way to get outside, interact with nature and have fun with friends. 

Paddle boarding lent itself well to socially distanced activities but the surge in demand seems to suggest that it will remain popular well into 2022, it seems that many people have caught the paddle boarding bug from our experience!
